Widow's Support - KenyaKenya
has many widows and the needs for them and their children is enormous.
Many rely on other family and friends for support, this is difficult
however in communities that are struggling to feed their own families.
This
project will ensure they have secure accommodation, emotional and
practical support. It is proposed that the first home will house
up to 8 widows and their children, with an emphasis on them becoming
self sufficient and supporting the wider community through small
business ventures encouraged and initiated through CCWM. A sewing project will be established in October 2011 with 2 industrial sewing machines made available along with training for the women to become self supporting as well as to bless others in their local community.
NEWS!!!!! June 2011
There is a currently a real concern for these women as many of them require medication which is expensive and Kenya's food prices have risen dramatically in the past few months meaning some are suffering symptoms of starvation.
Please consider donating towards their cause.
Coming in September/October 2011
A team from Australia will be visiting these women and setting up both a sewing business and jewelry making business’s that these women can operate themselves. We will be providing 4 weeks of training and two sewing machines with supplies to kick start this micro enterprise. We are hoping these small business’s will bring in much needed funds to the local community of widows.
